Chair Professor Chen-Tung Arthur Chen of the Department of Oceanography, NSYSU has distinctive accomplishments with international marine science initiatives. He was nominated and approved to be an IMBeR Fellow in November 2022 based on his expertise in nutrient and carbon cycling and global climate change.

IMBeR (Integrated Marine Biosphere Research) is a large global research project which focuses on ocean sustainability in the context of global change. In order to understand the past, present, and future changes to the ocean, IMBeR supports collaborative, disciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and integrated research that addresses key ocean science issues generated by and/or impacting society.

Chair Professor Chen is ranked top 1 in Asia and ranked top 8 among 16,540 scientists in the field of oceanography globally in the recently released list of World Scientist Rankings. His honor of being selected as the IMBeR Fellow establishes a perfect model for inspiring the students and faculties of our university.
